You Can Lead With That

Jackson Pollock: Each age finds its own technique. Technique is just a means of arriving at a statement.

Lashana Lynch: Sometimes you’re talking until you’re blue in the face, and no one will listen to you.

Pollock: They work from a different source. They work from within.

Lynch: You can lead with that.

Pollock: I think so, yes.

Lynch: I’m in Budapest, filming. I have to take a holiday or else my eyelashes will start falling out—and I love my eyelashes!

Pollock: That’s the first thing I’ve done on glass and I find it very exciting.

Lynch: Definitely. That was an incredible experience.

Pollock: I mean, the strangeness will wear off and I think we will discover the deeper meanings in modern art.

Lynch: A lot of them are repeats as well – like leather jackets.

Pollock: They are an impractical size—9 x 18 feet.

Lynch: But, really, if you take a step back and give yourself time, you’re able to reenter the space with more energy.

Pollock: I have a general notion, of what I’m about and what the results will be. The possibilities are endless. There is only one.

Lynch: Without that, the project has literally nothing.

Pollock: I hope so.
