Paul Grimstad: Lots of times it doesn’t work, nothing happens, you’re waiting for the thing that you think might turn into something.

Dominic Fredianelli: You just can’t shed that constant sense of readiness and hyperalertness.

Grimstad: You’ve got to be careful.

Fredianelli: I’m sure they knew the truth.

Grimstad: [Laughs] To some extent, it’s all electronic.

Fredianelli: I think I was saved by two things.

Grimstad: Is it three?

Fredianelli: Yeah, I think so. I dreaded going to Walmart.

Grimstad: There’s an almost occult strangeness to it, like a super dark amour fou.

Fredianelli: Everything was rolling.

•••

Grimstad: Tune the snare up, hit it again. Tune the snare down, hit it again. Hit the snare hard, hit it soft.

Fredianelli: Often, drugs entered the picture. You never know when to expect it.

Grimstad: It wasn’t something that we discussed over beers, it was pre-decided.

Fredianelli: We had a complete inability to enter each other’s worlds.

Grimstad: That’s like mixing colors.
